At level seven, you will unlock the Doom Flayer mount which is, in most cases, the better mount compared to the Doom Wheel at level 15. Power Armor and Jet Pack are good grabs for when Ikit is on his mount while waiting for level ten to get Power Overload. The rest of the Blue Tree is not a high priority since Lightning Strike is useless for ambushes, making the rest of the tree low-priority.
Fill out the Blue tree to Draftmaster, then work on Ikit's personal tree to make him a stronger fighter. Keep in mind that Ratling Guns and Warplock Jezzails are pretty useless in siege battles - since they can't arc their shots over walls - so when sieging a walled settlement, make sure you have plans to win without them. Your starting units will carry you through much of the early game since there are few answers for Ratling Guns right away.
